Education and Psychology
About me
Hi all! My name is Lily and I am currently studying Education and Psychology at the University of Cambridge, soon to commence my final year. I was born and bred in the North East of England. Prior to university, I attended school in Durham where I achieved A*- A grades in English Literature, Psychology and Physical Education and also completed an EPQ which focused on home schooling.
Outside academics I love to keep fit and have competed in a number of sports over the years to a high standard, including representing County Durham at the English Schools Championships in athletics. I believe exercise is extremely important for good mental health which motivated me to adopt the roles of Sports Officer and netball captain in my college last year.
This summer I was a team leader on the governments NCS programme which aims to empower young people and facilitate their personal and social development. I was responsible for delivering the programme content to a group of 15/ 16-year-olds including sessions on debating, self- management and social action. Additionally, I worked with younger children on a holiday camp, many of whom were vulnerable and required extra attention. Therefore, I am committed to helping children unleash their potential and I am confident communicating with young people of all ages and adapting to their various needs/ abilities.
In terms of academic tutoring, in school I assisted SEN children during their English lessons. Using my knowledge and skills to enhance student learning and confidence was highly rewarding and is what attracts me to tutoring. These experiences demonstrate my passion to assist children’s holistic development which is reflected in my enthusiasm towards tutor impact’s soft skills programme.
I will strive to ensure your child is taught in a supportive and encouraging environment which facilitates their development and understanding of soft skills. Can’t wait to meet you! :)
